Gary Pinkel Returning To Mizzou in 2013; What Would You Fix?

The Tigers' coach will look to return the team to bowl-caliber form next season.

The Columbia Daily Tribune is reporting that University of Missouri Head Football Coach Gary Pinkel will return to the Tiger sidelines in 2013. After an injury-riddled season that robbed the team of a consistent offensive line and quarterback play in Mizzou's 5-7 first season in the Southeastern Conference, Athletic Director Mike Alden told the paper Pinkel would return next fall. The Tigers will not play in a postseason bowl game for the first time since 2004. Pinkel is scheduled to review the 2012 season and look ahead to next season with reporters Tuesday morning, after a flurry of uninformed speculation had rumors flying he would resign Monday. Keeping the current Tiger coaching staff has implications for several St. Louis area Senior …

First Road Game, a Major Challenge for the Mizzou Tigers Saturday

Mizzou faces top-10 ranked South Carolina in an SEC showdown.

Mizzou has a football history with Steve Spurrier and his South Carolina Gamecocks For one, Spurrier was the quarterback in 1966 who almost engineered a Florida comeback in the Mizzou 20-18 win in the Sugar Bowl played that year out-of-doors at Tulane Stadium. Mizzou beat Spurrier and his Gamecocks in the 2005 Independence Bowl in Shreveport, 38-31 and the Tigers beat South Carolina under Jim Carlen in the Hall of Fame Bowl game in 1979, 24-14. Playing in Columbia, SC, will be no walk in the park Saturday. Some 80,000 will be loud and proud for the 2:30 p.m. (C.S.T. kickoff) on CBS. South Carolina is in full stride, heading into this SEC showdown with a perfect 3-0 start. After a shaky 17-13 win over Vanderbilt to open conference play, …

Expect Heavy Traffic to First Mizzou Home Game

Missouri takes on Georgia in the first Southeastern Conference football game in Mizzou history. MoDOT has support for travelers.

The Mizzou-Georgia matchup on Saturday will be the first ever SEC game at Faurot Field, and Missouri highways are expected to be full, as fans make their way to the game. Faurot's listed seating capacity is 71,004. A record 75,298 saw Mizzou play Penn State in 1980, according to the university's website. Could it be a record crowd on Saturday? The Missouri Department of Transportation is ready, and has released information to help travelers get to the game safely. Given the capacity crowd expected for Saturday’s game and the fact that some out-of-state travelers might be coming to Columbia for the first time, the Missouri Department of Transportation will have staff on hand to handle emergency maintenance situations or to help the Missouri…

Mizzou Football To Set Up Shop In Creve Coeur Sunday

Head Coach Gary Pinkel and his staff will host high school athletes from around the Midwest for a one day camp at De Smet.

Sunday marks the third day of a so-called "quiet period" in NCAA football recruiting cycles, but for potential college athletes or just prep athletes looking for a little hands-on instruction in Creve Coeur, Sunday could be an ideal day to make some noise. That's when Gary Pinkel and the football staff at the University of Missouri will descend on the De Smet campus to host one of the program's one-day summer camps. The Creve Coeur stop is the only one in the St. Louis area. The camp also features dozens of other college coaches from around the area. The camp is open to anyone from the classes of 2013-2016. Past camps have resulted in scholarship opportunities for athletes at Mizzou and other college football programs.  There is a $25 …
