Coach Keith Herring Voted Brentwood Person of the Year

Herring's hiring was questioned, but his two seasons as coach quieted the critics.

Brentwood Eagles football coach Keith Herring has beat out the other nominee, Ward 1 Alderwoman Maureen Saunders with 66 percent of the vote, to be the  Patch Brentwood Person of the Year for 2012. Herring was hired in March 2011 following the resignation of Scott Surgener and a hiring process that was unpopular and questioned by a Brentwood alderman, a school board member and many in the community. He wasn't the choice of a committee of school and community members. He went on to a 7-4 season in 2011 and 10-2 in 2012. "After coming to Brentwood under a cloud of dust, Coach Herring has taken a small group of under-sized pitbull atheletes as far as they can go," said his nominator.   "He continues to inspire future generations to play Eagle…

Dan Noonan Voted Patch Maplewood Person of the Year

Noonan serves on several city boards.

Daniel Noonan has been voted the Patch Maplewood Person of the Year, for 2012. He beat out Adam Kruse, owner of Hermann London Real Estate and Adrian Glass, a co-owner of The Post Sport Bar & Grill. Noonan's nominator said he is currently on several City of Maplewood Boards, including president of the Parks Board and chairman of the Planning and Zoning. He is now on a steering board appointed by the Mayor. Noonan has been serving the City of Maplewood for the last 10 years. Watch for a second article on how Noonan is serving Maplewood in the weeks to come.

2011 Person of the Year Announced

We asked, you decided. Introducing your 2011 Person of the Year.

Brentwood resident Maureen Saunders has been named Maplewood-Brentwood Patch's 2011 Person of the Year by its readers. Patch received seven nominations from the readers. Our poll collected 9,196 total votes, with 6,357 selecting Saunders. Saunders has also been selected to be a Greatest Person of the Day by The Huffington Post. The national online publication features a local hero each day who goes after community issues with “creativity and passion.” Saunders leads a petition drive Saunders has been a vocal critic of Brentwood's operations. She's attended nearly every city meeting since former city administrator Chris Seemayer pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $30,000 from the city's coffers.
