Swimmers Off Starting Blocks Capture Gold in Olympian Photo Contest

This eye-catching shot grabbed more than half of reader votes in our "Be an Olympian" photo contest, which was inspired by the London 2012 Olympics.

The judges have spoken in our "Be an Olympian" photo contest and the gold medal goes to this photo submitted by Earl Higgins. Ten photos made it to the final round of judging, and readers picked the winner by casting their votes by leaving comments. This photo snagged 38 out of 63 total votes. Patchers praised the photo for its color, composition, symmetry and ability to capture the spirit of Olympic competition.
