Schlafly and Kaldi's both hold their own in the St. Louis business world--and they're even stronger together, as shown in this MSNBC segment. The report examines the successful partnership between the coffee and beer brewers, and one of their breakout products, the Schlafly Coffee Stout. Schlafly Heads to the Big Apple

No, the St. Louis beer makers aren't moving--but they will be offering their products in New York starting Monday.

Schlafly is branching out--the St. Louis craft brewer's beers will make their debut in New York City starting May 13, Evan S. Benn reports for Esquire. "Outside of a small distribution footprint in the D.C. area, New York is the first place to get Schlafly beers beyond a 300-mile radius of St. Louis," according to the report. "For Schlafly co-founder Dan Kopman, this will be his second foray into selling beer in New York. He tried it back in the '80s, when he was a stateside salesman for Young's Brewery in London. It didn't go well. He got lost on the subway and had beer equipment stolen from his rental car." Urban Chestnut Brewing Grove Expansion: 3 Miles From Maplewood

The St. Louis craft brewers new space will be bigger than Schlafly Bottleworks.

St. Louis beer fans have likely heard the good news already--Urban Chestnut will be able to dramatically increase their barrel production with a new craft brewery in The Grove.  They are investing $10 million into the former Renard Paper Co. building at 4465 Manchester Ave., St. Louis Business-Journal reports. Schlafly Farmers' Market Kicks Off Season

The Maplewood market is now open Wednesdays through October.

Visitors of the Schlafly Farmers' Market, now open every Wednesday through October in the Schlafly Bottleworks parking lot, can expect a rotating list of vendors--in addition to vendors whose goods will rotate with the reasons. "The best example might be Three Rivers Community Farm, located in Elsah, Illinois, which currently offers winter greens -- spinach, arugula and bok choy, for example -- but with warmer weather will come a full cornucopia of spring crops, including squash and cherry tomatoes," RFT reports. Fake Beer Bottles Benefit Real Charity

Schlafly Brewing's April Fool's Day prank--a batch of 'lyte' beers--are being auctioned for the Gateway Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Schlafly Beer's April Fool's Day prank is having some very real benefits for a St. Louis foundation.  Schlafly introduced a mock YouTube video this week featuring their new light beers, Schlaf Lyte, Schlaf Lyte Light, and Schlaf Lyte Fancy. Bottles produced by Schlafly are currently being auctioned on eBay to benefit. (If you're hoping they'll have beer in them, though, you're out of luck.) NY Post: Schlafly's Offers 'Huge Variety'

The newspaper shared its favorite St. Louis spots.

Schlafly's Bottleworks and Tap Room are well known in the area for the great selection of local brews. Earlier this week, the New York Post gave the microbrew some love.  The New York Post recently wrote about the culinary revolution taking place in St. Louis. In "Beyond the BBQ in St. Louis: A food and drinks scene emerges in the land of Budweiser," the Post shares its favorite microbrew spots.  "Like Mad Art, the local microbrew scene exists in the shadow of Budweiser," the story reads. Two Retailers Coming to Downtown Maplewood

Owner David Schlafly is rehabbing the space in the 7400 block of Manchester Road.

One of the larger unoccupied commercial spaces in downtown Maplewood will hopefully soon have tenants. David Schlafly, owner of the 10,000 square foot building at 7412 Manchester Road, won’t say yet who the tenants will be, only that there will be two of them and they will be retail. The building sits between Stricker Auto Service and Tiffany's Original Diner. The false ceiling will be removed and a loft area will be built. New windows will go in the front and back of the building, and skylights will be added. Construction on I-270 Widening Project Starts Monday

Various lanes of the interstate from Manchester Road to Interstate 44 will be closed nightly through early May.

The Missouri Department of Transportation released the following update about the Interstate 270 Widening Project. The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin construction on the Interstate 270 Widening Project between Manchester Road (Route 100) and Interstate 44 starting Monday. MoDOT will close various lanes on Interstate 270 in this section from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays in April and early May. Lane closures are necessary for crews to perform paving and restriping work to prepare for the widening work on the interstate. Because of the restrictions on the roadway and rock bluffs, MoDOT will permanently narrow all lanes on northbound and southbound I-270 to 11 feet (the same width as I-44 during the I-64 reconstruction in …

Schlafly Farmers Market Opens Next Wednesday

On Wednesday, April 4 from 4-7 p.m., the Schlafly Farmers Market opens for the start of the 2012 farmers market season.
