Patch asked local wine experts what they would recommend for holiday gift giving and was suprised to get the same answer “What do they like to drink?” In the world of wine, there’s no one perfect bottle. The best gift wine is given with ample thought towards the recipient. Do they like sweet dessert wines or a bold Cabernet Sauvignon? Food & Wine Magazine is usually the place to go when foodies want to know who the next up-and-coming chefs are. But now the tables have turned. Food & Wine Magazine is asking readers who should be named the top ten new chefs in the U.S., and two of Maplewood's own are nominated: Monarch Restaurant's Josh Galliano and HomeWineKitchen's Cassy Vires. Galliano's star has been on the rise lately. He is a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation Restaurant and Chefs Awards in the "Top Midwest Chef" category, a major award in the food industry.
