Men Caught Pilfering Copper on Sunnen Property, Police Say

Police said a witness saw the men enter the house, and police caught them as they left.

Two men face criminal charges after police said they tried to steal copper pipe from a Maplewood home almost a year ago. The home was in an area slated for demolition for the Mini Cooper dealership. Maplewood Police said a witness saw the men entering the home, in the 3000 block of Coleman Avenue on Oct. 29, 2011. Police caught them as they were leaving the home with copper pipe. A police report said the back door had been kicked in. Alvin Jefferson, 36, of the 10300 block of Ashbrook in Bellefontaine Neighbors, and L.B. Robinson, 50, of the 7100 block of Michigan Avenue in St. Louis, were charged Tuesday with second-degree burglary and misdemeanor stealing.
