Maplewood Chamber Seeks Annual Awards Nominees

Nominations for citizen, business person and educator of the year are currently being accepted.

The Maplewood Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for three awards it hands out every year. Nominations for citizen, business person and educator of the year will be accepted until Sept. 9. The winners will be announced during the chamber's 2011 Dinner Auction on Oct. 14. The nomination forms, which are attached to this article, outline the criteria for each award. Nominators must also submit a letter of recommendation for the nominees. The citizen of the year award "honors an outstanding citizen who has worked passionately and tirelessly to promote Maplewood as a great place to live, work and visit. He/she consistently performs extraordinary acts on behalf of others and/or whose achievements have greatly enhanced the quality of …

Maplewood Chamber Names Hebenstreit Educator of the Year

The award was presented by the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce.

Cyndi Hebenstreit, principal of the Maplewood Richmond Heights Early Childhood Center, was named Educator of the Year by the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce. The MRH School Board recognized Hebenstreit for her achievement at its meeting on Thursday. Hebenstreit has been principal of the early childhood center for 10 years. "I do the work I do in service to the children and parents of the district," Hebenstreit said. She said one of the most important elements of her job is to provide continuity between preschool and elementary education, and the school district makes it easy for her to do it.
