Handgun Found in Galleria Shoplifter's Purse, Police Say

Shaquilla East was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after being detained for stealing at the mall.

A woman caught shoplifting at the St. Louis Galleria also was carrying a concealed handgun, police said. Shaquilla East, 19, of the 4900 block of Plover Avenue in St. Louis, was charged April 18 with unlawful use of a weapon. Richmond Heights Police said East was detained for shoplifting on April 17 at the Galleria. When police searched her purse, they found a handgun. East was released from St. Louis County Justice Center Friday. Bail was set at $7.500.

Man Stole $900 at Knife-Point in Craiglist Robbery on Galleria Lot, Police Say

Richmond Heights Police said the man placed a false ad for an iPhone online and met the victim Dec. 7 in the St. Louis Galleria parking lot.

A man robbed another man in the St. Louis Galleria parking lot Dec. 7 after placing a false Craigslist ad for an iPhone, according to Richmond Heights Police Kerron Cowan, 26, of the 300 block of Chapel Hill Road in Hazelwood, was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Richmond Heights Police said the man and victim agreed to meet in the St. Louis Galleria parking lot in Richmond Heights after the victim responded to a Craigslist ad for an iPhone 5. Police said Cowan got into the victim’s car, pulled out a knife with an eight-inch blade and demanded his money. The victim gave him $900 in cash.
