TIF Commission Approves Menards, Sends Plan to RH Council

A divided TIF Commission approved the project, sending it forward to the City Council for final approval.

A divided Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Commission Wednesday approved a plan to amend the Hadley Township Redevelopment plan and approved a TIF redevelopment plan for Hadley Township South, moving a Menards store development one step closer to finalization. Both measures were approved 6-5, moving the issue to the Richmond Heights City Council. The TIF Commission's recommendation will be taken up by the council no sooner than June 3.  The proposed development is in the southern section of the Hadley redevelopment area–the area south of Elinor Avenue and north of W. Hadley Township: Menards Making 'Very Positive Progress' on Contracts

Meanwhile, a Pace Properties representative addressed the Richmond Heights City Council for the last time to talk about the company's decision to back out of a planned development just south of The Heights community center.

Menards will have until Nov. 20 to sign and fund a preliminary funding agreement for its Hadley Township development. Richmond Heights City Council adopted the resolution at its Monday night meeting. An extension granted in mid-July expired this week. Peter Sheahan, a representative for Menards, said about 20 percent of the neighborhood targeted for development is under contract. If everything goes well, he said, that figure could rise to 50 percent next week. "We are making very positive progress," Sheahan said. Hadley Township: How Many MRH Students Would Developments Affect?

If Hadley Township turned commercial, what would the effect on Maplewood Richmond Heights School District be?

As potential developers in Hadley Township, in Richmond Heights, have tried to reach agreements with residents of the area, current Maplewood Richmond Heights students wait to find out if they'll need to find new housing to stay in the district. It was announced on Saturday in the St. Louis Post Dispatch, that Pace Properties will not continue to pursue its $125 million retail development just south of The Heights community center. A Menards is still being considered in the southern part of Hadley Township, just north of the Walmart. MRH currently has 37 students in both the north and south sections, who would have to find a new home if both developments took place, according to District Communications Director Brian Adkisson. Representatives with Pace Properties updated the Richmond Heights City Council on Monday about the status of its discussions with Hadley Township property owners. The company is planning a $125 million retail development just south of The Heights community center. Representatives from Pace Properties are expected to update the Richmond Heights City Council on Monday night about their buyout discussions with Hadley Township property owners. The company has proposed a $125 million retail development just south of The Heights community center. It has set up an office on Hanley Road in conjunction with Menards, which plans to develop the section of Hadley just north of Walmart and other Maplewood Commons stores. The two companies are using the space to discuss buyout offers with property owners. August 7, 2012 Primary Results: Hadley Township

Here are the results from Tuesday's election.

Results are in for the Hadley Township committeeman and committeewoman races. On the Republican side, Daniel F. O'Sullivan Jr. won an uncontested committeeman race. Meanwhile, Jackie Coleman won the committeewoman race with 54 percent of the vote. Her opponent, Carol Riess, took 44 percent of the vote. On the Democratic side, Nelson Mitten won an uncontested committeeman race while Mondi L. Ghasedi won an uncontested committeewoman race. More Election Day coverage from Patch:
