Local Music Spotlight: My Molly Raises Money for Full-Length Album

The indie folk duo from Maplewood has already raised more than $1,000.

Ask the management of Stone Spiral Coffee and Curios to name an up-and-coming local band, and they will offer two words: My Molly. A pair of 21-year-olds comprises the band from Maplewood. Rebecca Hanneken plays guitar and tambourine (with her feet) while Mallory Barnes holds down the floor tom, glockenspiel and other hand percussion. After becoming known for their trademark two-part harmony at Stone Spiral's weekly open mic nights, the two have wowed their way into an album—their first—with an indie label founded in St. Louis and currently operating out of Denver.  “We’re part of Morning Bird Records, and they’ve been pushing us to do an album,” Hanneken said.
