The burlesque and variety club left Maplewood in U-Haul trucks last month.
After a tumultuous year-and-a-half run in Maplewood, Jumpin' Jupiter closed its doors last month. The show is now on the road. The club lost a company of performers, was accused of not paying state sales taxes and sent scantily clad employees to the sidewalk to bring in business while at the corner of Manchester Road and Sutton Boulevard. Owner, James Callahan, stated on the show's website that he "overestimated the location." On Thursday he introduced The Jumpin' Jupiter Road Show on YouTube. (It's clean enough to watch at work, if you choose.) More about Jumpin' Jupiter on Patch: One more time: What needs to move into that now empty corner?

A sign from Red Brick, the company that owns the property at the corner of Manchester Road and Sutton Boulevard, now hangs in what was once Jumpin' Jupiter. What business should open here?
After a tumultuous year and a half, the Jumpin' Jupiter has exited the city of Maplewood. The space at the corner of Manchester Road and Sutton Boulevard now sits vacant with a large sign from Red Brick, the company that owns the property. It got us at Patch wondering about what's next for the downtown Maplewood business community. What business would you like to see open in Maplewood? What does Maplewood need that might require a bar and a stage? Tell us in the comments! More on Jumpin' Jupiter in Maplewood, and other business articles:

The Maplewood night club has had financial and and community relations problems since last year.
The Jumpin' Jupiter night club received another eviction notice this week. The first one came last May for nonpayment of $40,506 in rent, but the club managed to stay in business. On Monday, the club was issued its fifth such notice. An eviction notice was taped to the door on Wednesday. The business owed $40,312 to its landlord, Maple King LLC, on March 4, according to a court record. Jumpin' Jupiter is owned by James G. Callahan. Since the club's May 2012 eviction notice, it lost a company of performers and was accused three times of not paying state sales taxes. In June, scantily clad employees bringing in business on the sidewalk ruffled feathers in Maplewood. The business has not returned a request for comment. Previous Patch news on …

Maplewood City Council considered making business with repeated revocation hearings pay a price.
Before the Maplewood City Council meeting Tuesday night two businesses were told, in a license revocation hearing, to shut their doors for not paying Missouri state taxes. They both have the opportunity to settle with the state and reopen. It was the second revocation hearing in the year for Fix it Right Auto and Las Palmas. The first time, in June, they settled with the state and were able to stay in business. A third business was referred to in the council meeting as a repeat offender, though its name wasn’t spoken. The only other Maplewood business to have multiple revocation hearings is the nightclub, Jumpin Jupiter, which had hearings in June and November 2012. “We have the potential, everybody knows, with another business, that they …

The Maplewood club has settled with the state for the third time this year.
The Jumpin Jupiter's doors are open again. For the third time this year, owner Jim Callahan has lost then regained his license to do business in Maplewood. All three times were for nonpayment of state taxes. He lost it then settled with the state, for the first time, in a week in June and July. After losing the license a second time, in November, owner Jim Callahan drove to Jefferson City to clear his record. Two weeks later Maplewood Police cleared the venue on a Sunday night because he hadn't met his tax obligations to the state, and the city had pulled the license for a third time. Now, just in time for an already scheduled New Year's Eve show, The Jumpin Jupiter's state taxes have been paid. Friday morning at 11:30 Callahan showed his…
