About Scott
I'm a jack-of-all-trades.
Much of my career was spend in media; more than 20 years in newspaper, radio and television specializing in government and business journalism.
My beats included city halls in St. Louis and Kansas City, state legislatures in Missouri, Illinois and Kansas. I was one of the four original manager that built ABC 30 News from scratch in 1994, the same year I was picked to co-host Mayor Freeman Bosley, Jr.'s What's Goin' On St. Louis radio show on CNN 550 KSD.
After getting tired of St. Louis I moved to Kansas City and worked as chief political reporter for Newsradio 980 KMBZ and in 1999, won an Edward R. Murrow Excellence in Journalism award. It's like a Pulitzer Prize for broadcasting.
Media can tend to bore me so I worked in politics, on the Steve Danner (now Missouri's National Guard Adjunctant Major) for Congress campaign and consultant to the Citizens Against Prop N initiative in 2009.
I like sports (hard to love sports when there's so much wrong with it) and spent time at KMOX radio in the late 1980's and radio play-by-play for SIU-Carbondale, the University of Illinois and Danville Suns of the Class A Midwest League. I also found time to be the marketing director for Bluegrass Downs of Paducah, in an era when horse racing was king, before casinos put the big hurt on that industry.
I currently run a private media consulting company specializing in covergent communications, www.provergent.com. I consult small businesses on total communications - standard and online. If you're a small business, drop me a note and tell me what you need to be more visible. I've got secrets up my sleeve others can only dream about. I've worked for and with some pretty talented people over the years and we don't see a lot of good fundamentals being practiced today.
